Zimmermann Off The Table; Cueto May Follow Soon

Cueto (L); Zimmermann (R)
The realistic free-agent pitching options of the Red Sox may be drastically narrowed as one candidate has already signed and another could be choosing a non-Boston deal soon. Already, Jordan Zimmermann has inked a five-year, $110 million deal with the Tigers. Meanwhile, Johnny Cueto has turned down a six-year, $120 million deal with the D-Backs. However, he is looking for a deal in the vicinity of $140-$150 million—probably too pricey for Dave Dombrowski (given Cueto's overall shaky 2015). So, as the Winter Meetings loom on Sunday, Boston may have its choices down to Zack Greinke or David Price.
