A reader contacted us to correct
a story we ran on October 16th about Jose Canseco. The story cited another publication's reference to a TWITTER exchange suggesting that Canseco—because he was only age 49—was not qualified to play on a '50 and older' championship softball team. The reader sent us the rules of the league,
which in fact allow players who will become 50 years of age in 2014. That would make Canseco qualified. We apologize to Jose—goodness knows he's a big enough target without unfounded allegations being made against him. We retract the story.
