Cardinals Would Be Familiar Red Sox WS Foe

First of all, thank goodness the Red Sox and Cardinals did not meet in Bud Selig's Magical Interleague Mystery Tour this year. At least in that sense, a Red Bird-Red Sox match-up would be somewhat like a throw-back World Series. Having said that, it's not like the two franchises are strangers in the Fall Classic. Boston and St. Louis have met three previous times in October—1946, 1967 and (of course) 2004. The Carmine Hose are 1-2 in those meetings—but, oh what a win the 2004 sweep was! The history between the two clubs is indeed rich—1946 had the Pesky Pause and the Slaughter Dash; 1967 had Bob Gibson (and pretty much nothing else); 2004 had "Can you believe it?". So, another meeting would have the following at stake: either the 12th St. Louis ring or Boston's 8th. Bring it on—after we beat Max Scherzer tonight, that is.
