Andrew Bailey Could Be History By Tuesday

(Mike Petraglia/WEEI.com)
The Red Sox have a decision to make on reliever Andrew Bailey. By the Monday deadline, they need to determine if it's worth tendering him a contract. If they do, he can negotiate a salary or go to arbitration—and would likely get about $4 million for 2014. The problem is, his surgically-repaired right shoulder will keep him out until around the All-Star Break—so, is it worth it to commit to him? He wants to stay in Carmine Hose, but the team's bullpen depth might make him expendable. As the Providence Journal's Brian MacPherson points out, the Sox could offer him a minor league deal (a 'la Rich Hill). Stay tuned.
