Jays Sign Navarro; Sox Catching Options Slim

Lavarnway In Our (Near) Future?
The Toronto Blue Jays have signed free-agent catcher Dioner Navarro and strong indications are that the Minnesota Twins will reacquaint themselves with the irascible A.J. Pierzynski. So, what the heck are the Red Sox going to do for catching in 2014? Unless they agree to overpay Jarrod Saltalamacchia (which it looks like they are unwilling to do), about their only remaining option is to go totally in-house with David Ross and Ryan Lavarnway. That would probably mean a severe offensive drop-off from Salty's 2013 numbers, but might be acceptable as a (wait for it) "bridge year" to Christian Vasquez, Blake Swihart or Dan Butler.
