Chris Sale Makes His Second Start Against His Old White Sox Team Tonight

Sale (L); Moncada (R)
Chris Sale—coming off two of the worst starts of his Red Sox career—will face his old team tonight at Fenway looking for a fresh start. In his last two games, the lanky lefty pitched a total of just 10.1 innings—allowing ten runs on eleven hits. These numbers are decidedly not Sale Day worthy. Said Sale, "I've had two bad outings and they just happen to be back-to-back and the most recent ones." Last season—in his first-ever match-up with his old club—he was shaky, but won in The Windy City. Tonight will also mark the return to Fenway of "prodigal son" Yoan Moncada (who was dealt to The Pale Hose for Sale). It's unlikely fans will see Moncada tonight, however—given his dismal numbers against lefties (.173). In any event, this is a golden opportunity for Sale to get back on track and improve his (for him) so-so record of 5-3, with a 3.00 ERA. Stay tuned.
