Ex-Sox 1B Anderson Seeks A Fresh Start Down-Under

Anderson (AAP/Mark Brake)
Remember Lars Anderson? You know, the #18 pick in the 2006 MLB Draft—anointed as Boston's "first baseman of the future"? Well, it's the future, and Anderson is in Australia looking to hook-up with a team in that country's top league (the ABL). Currently, he is with a team in the South Australian Baseball League (Henley & Grange) with his sites set on the Adelaide Bite (there's really a team named the "Bite"?) Anderson, now 30 years old, played in Japan last season for the Kochi Fighting Dogs—so we guess going to the "Bite" would be a natural progression. Lars thinks his time in Boston steeled him for anything in baseball, "Boston is an intense sports town and there is a lot of attention on you. There is so much failure in baseball that I had to learn how to deal with that and I wasn’t very good at that to begin with. I think my mental toughness improved from being in that environment." We wish Lars the best Down-Under!
