Ten Years Ago Tonight Dice-K Got Two World Series RBIs

While tonight is the 13th anniversary of the curse-breaking 2004 World Series championship, it is also the 10th anniversary of Boston's 10-5 Game Three win over the Colorado Rockies in the 2007 World Series. While it was pretty much an early blowout, it offered us the amazing spectacle of Daisuke Matsuzaka lacing a third-inning single to left field to plate Mike Lowell and Jason Varitek. By the end of that inning, it was 6-0 Boston—and they were well on their way to a 3-0 lead in the series. Dice-K (who took a lot of crap during his tenure as a Carmine Hoser) pitched well that night—going 5.1 innings, giving up just three hits and two earned runs. Typically, he hurled 101 pitches in the shortened start, but he got the win and helped propel the Red Sox to their second World Series sweep in four years. (Getty Images)
