The good folks at the travel site
liligo.com have done an analysis of the "away game" travel behavior of the fans of four MLB teams—the Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees, Los Angeles Dodgers and Chicago Cubs. The goal of the study was to gauge the cost and transit time of traveling to
each away game in the team’s season. Lo and behold, Red Sox fans top the list for: 1.) spending the most
time commuting to away games (99 hours, 47 minutes) and 2.) spending the most
money traveling to away games ($4,109-$7,589). Of course, this comes as no surprise to any Sox fans who have ventured on the road to see swarms of their compatriots throughout the enemy city. Still, it's good to have hard data to confirm our beliefs.
