Red Sox Announce The Start Of The Steve Selsky Era

Selsky In 2016 MLB Action
The news may have flown under your radar yesterday—it certainly flew under ours. The Red Sox announced that they had signed OF/1B/DH Steve Selsky off waivers from the Reds. OK, it's not on par with the Chris Sale trade, but it does point to Boston's stocking up on infielders in the event of a joint Pablo Sandoval/Mitch Moreland meltdown. Selsky, 27, is basically a career minor leaguer—who has had a few cups of coffee (mostly decaf) in the majors. The right-handed hitting Selksy did have a couple of good stretches in 2016 with the Reds, as he becomes the 40th man on the 40-man roster.
