Hembree & Hernandez Are 'Under The Radar' Nominees

Hembree (L); Hernandez (R)
The Editors of FenwayNation have nominated two finalists—one pitcher and one position player—for their 2016 'Under The Radar' award. The honor is given to that player who has made mostly under-recognized contributions to the team during the season. Past recipients have been: Tommy Layne (2015); Alex Wilson (2014); and Daniel Nava (2013). This year's finalists are: reliever Heath Hembree and infielder Marco Hernandez. Hembree has so far pitched in 31 games for the 2016 Carmine Hose—hurling 41.2 innings. Over that span he has posted a 2.38 ERA. He has walked 13 and struck out 36. Hernandez has played in 32 games so far this season, hitting .311, with a .380 OBP. He's collected 14 hits—including a double and a homerun. His .780 OPS is the 10th best on the team. Once the regular season concludes, we will offer readers the opportunity to choose between these two players as the 2016 FenwayNation 'Under The Radar' Player Of The Year.
