Sox Sign Wellesley's Freiman To Minor League Contract

The Red Sox signed former Wellesley High star Nate Freiman to a minor-league contract—assigning him to AA Portland. Freiman has two years of service in 'The Show'—a total of 116 games with the Oakland A's. In 2013, he hit .274 with four HRs in just 80 games for Oakland. The 29-year-old first-baseman most recently played for the Atlantic League’s Long Island Ducks—hitting .381 in six games.
