The rumors of
Jerry Remy's displacement by
another Massachusetts native (
Ron Darling)
have been dashed. NESN announced yesterday that
Remy would return to the TV broadcast booth in 2016—albeit sharing color duties with
Dennis Eckersley and
Steve Lyons. In fact, on some games, new play-by-play man
Dave O'Brien will work with
two others from among the Remy, Eckersley and Lyons grouping.
The Nation would have been ready to erupt if NESN had axed Remy—especially after the uproar over the dismissal of his long-time booth-mate
Don Orsillo. Remy will be returning for his 29th year covering the Red Sox.
