No 'Bi-Partisan' Baseball Love Lately In Gotham City

(New York Post)
And you think we hate the Yankees? Ask a Met fan. The new success of The Boys From Flushing Meadows is exposing a major rift in New York City fandom. Many followers of the World Series-bound Metropolitans are a little miffed at the "johnny-come-lately" fans who usually root for The Bronx Embalmers. Franky, they don't want any skunks at their garden party. As The New York Times puts it, "This bandwagon is not big enough for Yankees fans, with their smugness born of 27 World Series rings, including that one they forged at Shea Stadium in 2000." And, with the typical arrogance that only a Yankee fan can emit, a Manhattan bar owner actually said this, "I have a vested interest in the bar being full, so I’m rooting for the Mets. I want the Mets to go to the World Series. And I prefer that they then lose in seven games." From our point of view—they deserve each other. Go Royals/Blue Jays!
