Scherzer Emerges As Top Lester-Fail Fallback

If John Henry's little sojourn to Atlanta goes up in flames a' la Gen. William Tecumseh Sherman, the Red Sox need some fall-back options. While trades could bring back the likes of Cole Hamels or Johnny Cueto, it appears that the number one option will be a free-agent signing of Max Scherzer. Look for the Sox to throw Lester-like money (or more) at Scherzer—who is a year younger than our erstwhile lefty and has thrown a ton fewer innings. If nothing else, local Tufts grads will be happy—since Scherzer has one brown eye and one blue eye. See what we did there?
