Cubs Counter Henry With Late Lester Push

As the MLB Winter Meetings open tomorrow in San Diego (where the Patriots are about to humiliate the "Super Chargers"), the Cubs are poised to make a late run at Jon Lester. After John Henry made his almost religious-like pilgrimage to Lester's Atlanta home, Theo Epstein is reportedly pushing his financial offer up to around $140 million for six years. Boston is still in the $130 million range—but The Carmine Hose are counting on the "heartstrings thing" to bridge the $10 million gap. Of course, the Dodgers, Giants and Evil Ones are still in the mix as well. Stay tuned!
