Manfred Is New Commissioner After Six Votes

It took six rounds of voting, but Bud Selig ultimately got his choice of a successor—the man he appointed as COO, Rob Manfred. Red Sox Chairman Tom Werner was the focus of an attempted revolt against the crown—but his candidacy eventually fizzled. So, a Bud Selig Clone has been elevated to the most powerful executive position in professional sports—and baseball will likely flounder for several more years. As milquetoast as Werner is, he probably would have at least introduced some media-based reforms. We will never know. So, now the creator of Bosom Buddies returns to his Red Sox role which nobody can quite define.
