MLB Commish Race Down To Werner & Manfred

UPDATE: Owners digging in for long night
As MLB owners begin their vote for a new Commissioner at 1:30 PM Eastern today, word comes that one of the three finalists has dropped out of the race—that  person being MLB executive vice president of business Tim Brosnan. That leaves Red Sox Chairman Tom Werner and MLB chief operating officer Rob Manfred. It's speculated that Brosnan would throw his support to Werner in exchange for being named Deputy Commissioner in a Werner administration. The palace intrigue is positively Machiavellian! Stay tuned for a result today—or if no one gets the requisite three-quarters of the vote—a postponement until the next owners meeting in November.
