Henry Owens |
With
Anthony Ranaudo's promotion from AAA to the Red Sox (he will start tonight against
The Evil Empire), it's not a big surprise that
Henry Owens is being bumped up from AA Portland to Pawtucket. The big 6'6" lefty has made 20 starts for the Sea Dogs this year and is 14-4 with a 2.60 ERA. In 121.0 innings pitched, he's given up just 89 hits—with 9.4 strikeouts per nine innings. He has collected three complete games and two shutouts. He seems to have proven about as much as he can prove at AA and richly deserves the promotion. More than likely, we will see Owens at some point in September toeing the rubber at Fenway Park.
