Red Sox May Add Complimentary RH Outfielder

According to the Eagle-Tribune's Christopher Smith, while the Red Sox are probably done with any big transactions, they still might add a right-hand hitting outfielder as a potential centerfield platoon. While most centerfield free agents are already off the table (except for Shin-Soo Choo), Boston seems committed to starting Jackie Bradley, Jr. in center on Opening Day. If the kid falters against left-handed pitching, players like Michael Morse, Rajai Davis, Franklin Gutierrez or Delmon Young might be good complementary bench/platoon options for Boston. Smith also points out that Ben Cherington still wants protection on the left side of the infield—which could be a starting shortstop like Stephen Drew (which might free up Will Middlebrooks for a trade and place Xander Bogaerts at third), or a bench player that could back-up at short and third.
