Who Goes To Bullpen When Buchholz Returns?

Who Gets Sent Here?
Realizing that this may be an exercise in futility, it's worth pondering who—in the current Red Sox rotation—would go to bullpen if Clay Buchholz returns. CSNNE.com's Maureen Mullen pursues that question with Manager John Farrell and gets a very cryptic response. Says Farrell: "We’ve kind of reserved [the decision], only because not knowing [Buchholz’s] exact return date, and then with the number of off days that we’re going to go through:  Who comes out of the rotation? Who goes to the pen? Do we have the ability with the number of off-days? Do we go to a four-man? Depending on where we’re at, there’s a lot of factors to include." Thanks for clearing that up, John. Of the five current starters—Felix Doubront, John Lackey, Jake Peavy, Ryan Dempster, Jon Lester—only Dempster has significant relief experience. Buchholz is scheduled for some kind of throwing on Tuesday (we've lost track of the progression), but he will need several rehab starts in the minors before he gets back to The Show.
