REPORT: Papi And Sox Not Close To New Deal

The Horror
According to a report by the Globe's Nick Cafardo, the Red Sox and David Ortiz are not close to a new deal. If the sides can't reach agreement soon, Boston can make a qualifying offer of $13.3 million by Friday to protect itself with a draft pick if Papi flees. If there's still no agreement, Ortiz can shop his wares to any team starting November 9th. The nightmare for all Red Sox fans would be to see the greatest clutch hitter in team history wearing the laundry of the Evil Ones (see pic). Let's hope cooler heads prevail on both sides in the next day or so.
