Red Sox Now Have Clear Shot At Adam LaRoche

Once & Future?
Adam LaRoche—who had a 6-game cup of coffee with Boston in 2009—is now available to rejoin the Carmine Hose if they so desire. LaRoche declined his portion of a mutual option with the Nationals today and now becomes a free agent. The left-handed hitting first baseman clouted 33 home runs in 2012 and knocked in 100 runs while hitting .271. He also just won the National League Gold Glove at first base. This is a no-brainer: the market at this position is extremely thin behind LaRoche—now that he's a free agent, Boston needs to sign him.
