A Red Sox Sweep Could Put The Empire On The "Jet Lag Express" To Oakland

If the Red Sox sweep away the Yankees  this weekend at Fenway (as they did in early August) and the A's sweep the Angles in Anaheim, things would set up nicely for next Tuesday's American League Wild Card game. In this eventuality, The Evil Ones would need to jet away from Logan on Sunday—flying six plus hours to play a Tuesday elimination game at the Oakland Mausoleum. Even if The Bronx Embalmers won that tilt, they would have to fly another six hours back to Boston to play the Red Sox on Friday. Jerking around the Yankees like this is the best argument for winning the AL East outright. Of course, the Red Sox are literally playing "simulated games" this weekend—while New York will be battling with every pitch. It's unclear which team this reality benefits. We will know on Monday morning. Hopefully all goes as planned and a tired, jet-lagged group of Pinstriped Posers limps in to Fenway Park on October 5th.
