Mookie Betts Leads MLB In WAR, J.D. Martinez Ranks 8th, Benintendi 18th

According to, three Red Sox players rank in the Top 20 in WAR (Wins Above Replacement). Mookie Betts tops all players in Major League Baseball with an 8.2 WAR, followed very closely by Cleveland's Jose Ramirez in second place with a WAR of 8.1. Not far behind Ramirez is Mike Trout, in third position with a WAR of 8.0. Clearly, all three players are serious contenders for the American League Most Valuable Players Award—with many observers believing that the WAR stat is the one true measure of MVP status. Other Carmine Hosers who are high on the list are: J.D. Martinez in 8th position with a WAR of 5.4 and Andrew Benintendi in 18th position with a WAR of 4.4.
