Metropolitans Go Yard Five Times On Evil Ones, Win 8-5; Sox Lead Is Now 10

What could be more satisfying on a Red Sox off-day than The Bronx Embalmers losing? That happened on Monday night, as the Metropolitans beat-up on their cross-town rivals, 8-5 at The Concrete Bunker On 161st Street. Five Mets hit homeruns, and Yankee "ace" Luis Severino got shelled again. The Pinstriped Posers were out-hit 15 to 7 by a team that is 16 games under .500. Giancarlo "Don't Call Me Mike" Stanton went 0-3 with two strikeouts in the Empire loss. New York is now 30 games over .500, but that can't match Boston's 50-game over .500 pace. The Red Sox now enjoy their biggest lead of the season—ten full games over The Evil Ones in the American League East. Boston travels to Philadelphia for a brief two-game set with the feisty Phillies—who trail the Braves by just one game in the National League East.
