Even before he blanked them for 6.1 innings on Saturday, Tigers starting pitcher
Mike Fiers was drawing trade interest from the Red Sox—who have both
Eduardo Rodriguez and
Steven Wright on the disabled list. Now, new reports are emerging that
Boston is also zoning in on two other starters—
Cole Hamels of Texas and Miami's
Dan Straily. Overall this season Fiers is 7-6 with a 3.49 ERA—while Hamles is struggling with the Rangers (5-8, 4.36). Straily is 4-4 with a 4.06 ERA for the Marlins. So, clearly, Fiers is the pick of the litter—but, again, Boston's farm system is weak and there are several other teams in on these guys. Stay tuned.
