This one reeked from pitch one.
Rick Porcello had absolutely nothing last night in
a 13-7 drubbing by the Blue Jays. Tentative, jittery—with no control at all—the 10-game-winner was clubbed all over the old ballpark and wasted multiple comebacks by the offensive side of the club. At one point, Porcello could not hold a 6-3 lead—giving up five earned runs without getting an out in the very next inning.
Mookie Betts was, well, Mookie Betts—going 3-4 with two triples and two RBIs. Other multiple hit games came from
Brock Holt (2-5, hitting .285) and
J.D. Martinez (2-5, hitting .330). But none of the hitting could overcome the stinker put up by the former Cy Young winner. This loss was mitigated somewhat by the fact that
The Evil Ones also lost—keeping the AL East lead at 3.5 games.
