REPORT: Sox Deal For Edwin Encarnacion Fell Through

(Getty Images)
According to USAToday's Bob Nightengale, the Red Sox and Indians discussed a trade over the Winter that would have sent slugger Edwin Encarnacion to Boston. The deal eventually fell through because Dave Dombrowski did not want to part with Jackie Bradley, Jr. However, according to Nightengale, with the J.D. Martinez negotiations stalled, the trade talks with the Tribe might be resuscitated. In fact, the scribe goes on to speculate that Dombrowski may contact his old bosses in Detroit to pry away Miguel Cabrera (offering to eat as much as half of that slugger's remaining $192 million contract). Yikes! Stay tuned—there could be a parrot  or 'Miggy' sighting at Fenway Park.
