Montreal Athletics? Oakland Running Out Of Options

Despite Oakland being an area booming with economic activity, the chances of the Athletics staying there are dwindling by the day. The most recent plan for a stadium to replace the monstrosity that is the Coliseum (a new facility at downtown Laney College) just fell through. Their only other hope—that MLB gives them territorial rights to relocate to San Jose—is a pipe dream (the Giants will not allow it). So when cities like Montreal, Portland (Oregon), Charlotte, and Mexico City come a-courtin', there's tremendous incentive for the team owner to bolt the Bay Area. An added burden is that—starting in 2021—Oakland will no longer be considered "small-market", cutting off a stream of revenue-sharing money the A's have enjoyed for years. It all adds up to: "Adios, Oakland!"
