Red Sox President of Baseball Operations
Dave Dombrowski announced today that the team
will not make qualifying offers to any of its eight eligible free agents (
Mitch Moreland,
Blaine Boyer,
Fernando Abad,
Chris Young,
Doug Fister,
Rajai Davis,
Eduardo Nunez). A ninth free agent (
Addison Reed) was not eligible for a qualifying offer due to being traded during the 2017 season. Thus, the player most observers thought
would be offered a deal—Nunez—will not likely be back.
