Giants-Marlins Trade Discussions "Deeper" On Giancarlo

According to Mark Feinsand of MLB.com, trade talks between the San Francisco Giants and the Miami Marlins are now "deeper" with regard to super-star Giancarlo Stanton. Previous reports had the Giants shipping off 2B Joe Panik and pitching prospects Tyler Beede and Chris Shaw (both Massachusetts natives) to The Fish. In return, San Francisco would get Stanton and 2B Dee Gordon (along with, presumably, a huge chunk of Stanton's $295 million contract). The word is that—among the leading landing spots—Stanton prefers the Bay Area. However, while Feinsand says the Giants are the clear favorites to land Stanton, he believes that St. Louis is still in the mix. There is no mention in Feinsand's report of any impending trade offer by the Red Sox.
