Matt Barnes Hits 10-Day DL With Lower Back Strain

There is no joy in Storrs, Connecticut tonight. Former UCONN Husky Matt Barnes has been placed on the 10-day disabled list with a lower back strain—one day after gagging away a win in The Mistake By The Lake. And, despite his much better home (1.95 ERA) versus road (5.53 ERA) numbers, he may be a fixture in Rhode Island soon—specifically Pawtucket. Hey, it's closer to Connecticut than Fenway Park! Right-handed pitcher Hector Velazquez was recalled from AAA to take the spot of Barnes on the roster.
