Red Sox One Of Two Teams In On Twins Closer Kintzler

Brandon Kintzler
The trade rumor mill continues. MLB Network's Jon Morosi reports that both Boston and Arizona are interested in trading for Minnesota Twins closer Brandon Kintzler. The 32-year-old Kintzler was originally drafted by The Evil Ones in 2003, and has basically had an "OK" record over eight seasons in the bigs (12-13, 3.25 ERA, 44 saves). This season, however, he has been terrific—sporting a 2.84 ERA with 27 saves for the (amazingly) contending Twinkies. He has already finished an incredible 40 of Minnesota's 100 games thus far—earning him an All-Star berth. In 44.0 innings he has whiffed 26 batters and has a WHIP of 1.150. No word on what needs to go back to The Land O' Lakes in return for Kintzler. One issue that will impact this is the fact that he is a free agent after this season.
