David Price Headed To Disabled List With Elbow Issue

On the heels of Dan Shaughnessy's breaking report earlier this morning, a bevy of additional reports have flowed in—all confirming: the same elbow/arm trouble he experienced in Spring Training (via an MRI conducted yesterday), the fact that he will miss tonight's start, and the fact that he is headed to the disabled list. Of course, the unspoken wild card is that he may need to undergo Tommy John surgery—which would be a devastating blow to the Red Sox for two reasons. One, it would remove a Cy Young-calibre pitcher (when healthy) from their rotation right now; Two, it would effectively negate the possibility of Price opting-out out of his contract at the end of the 2018 season. In any event, if Price does in fact miss this start tonight, it will only exacerbate the vitriol thrown at him by both media and fans.
