FORBES: Sox Are 16th Most Valuable Sports Franchise

According to the latest ranking by Forbes.com, the Boston Red Sox are the 16th most valuable sports franchise in the world—tied with the NFL's Chicago Bears. The $2.7 billion value of The Carmine Hose represents a 17% increase over 2016. Among just MLB teams, the Red Sox rank third—behind The Bronx Embalmers at $3.7 billion (up 9% over 2016) and the Los Angeles Dodgers ($2.75 billion, up 10% over 2016). The top overall franchise in the world is the Dallas Cowboys—worth an amazing $4.2 billion (up 5% over 2016). The 5-time Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots are the second-highest ranked NFL team—coming in at #6 and carrying a worth of $3.4 billion (up 6% over 2016). Of the Top Ten franchises, four are from the NFL, three from the world of soccer, two from the NBA and one from Major League Baseball.
