Brian Johnson Injury Threatens His Slated Friday Start

Brian Johnson Goes Down With Injury
This kid just has no luck. Brian Johnson, in line to start for the Red Sox on Friday, injured his right hamstring yesterday in a start for AAA Pawtucket. After a sterling complete game shutout in his previous big league start (May 27th), he was demoted back to the PawSox to stay ready for a potential recall. Once Eduardo Rodriguez injured his balky knee after stumbling in the Camden Yards bullpen, the window was wide open for another Johnson start on Friday night at Fenway Park against the Tigers. Now, that start is seriously in doubt. Although, Pawtucket manager Kevin Boles stated the following, "He slipped on the mound and just extended his knee a little bit. It’s just for precautionary reasons, obviously. He pitched last time in the big leagues, and we’re just going to err on the side of caution. He said (the hamstring) grabbed on him a little bit, so we’re going to err on the side of caution." Stay tuned!
