Finally, the Red Sox are starting to give
Chris Sale some run support. Today—thanks in large part to
Andrew Benintendi—
The Carmine Hose offense provided just enough to give the lefty another win (his seventh of the year). Sale squandered a first-inning 2-0 lead, but rebounded to go six pretty solid innings—giving up three earned runs and striking out nine in
the eventual 7-3 victory. Benintendi had his first career two home-run game—collecting three total hits (3-4, with a walk) and three RBIs in the process.
Jackie Bradley, Jr. knocked in the two first frame runs with a two-out single. This was a huge win—allowing Boston to pull within two games of the division-leading
Pinstriped Posers. On to
Baghdad-On-The-Hudson for a three-game showdown starting on Tuesday night.
