Sam Travis Set To Make His MLB Debut Tonight At 1B
With a left-handed starter on the mound for the Texas Rangers, newly-promoted Red Sox prospect Sam Travis is very likely to get the start tonight at first base. Travis has been red-hot at AAA during the month of May and can offer The Carmine Hose some needed right-handed power. Travis has generally been an under-appreciated player in the organization—drafted in 2014's second round out of Indiana University-Bloomington. He was initially selected in the 40th round of the 2011 draft by the Reds. In addition to getting some righty thump in the lineup, Travis can also 'spell' Mitch Moreland—who has played in almost every game so far this year. Perhaps the most interesting fact about Travis is his relatively cool Twitter handle: @DoctorChill6.
