UPDATE: One-year, $4.5M
Koji Uehara, one of the heroes of the 2013 World Series team, is about to sign a deal with the Chicago Cubs. Koji spent four years with the Red Sox, compiling a stellar 2.19 ERA to go along with 79 saves. To this day, we do not understand how he got guys out—or how he made great hitters look silly. In the 2013 post-season, Koji was the MVP of the ALCS—pitching six scoreless innings against Detroit— collecting three saves. In the 2013 World Series, he pitched 4.2 scoreless innings and nabbed two saves—and he was on the mound to finish the 6-1 clincher at Fenway Park. His attitude, his split and his walk-on song will be missed. Good luck, Koji!
