Rumor: Yoan, E-Rod, Blake, Kopech For Sale And Abreu?

Abreu (L); Sale (R)
While everyone seems to be focusing on a trade that would send Jackie Bradley, Jr. (and a few top prospects) to Chicago for LHP Chris Sale, another possibility has emerged. A scenario cooked up by ESPN.com's Jim Bowden has Boston shipping off #1 overall MLB prospect Yoan Moncada to The Windy City—along with Eduardo Rodriguez, Blake Swihart, and fire-baller Michael Kopech. In return, Boston nets Sale and 1B/DH Jose Abreu. The deal has the potential of killing Boston in the long-run if Moncada becomes what everyone expects he will. However, Sale would give Boston three Cy Young-level starters (two of them lefties) in the rotation. And, with the 29-year-old Abreu, the Red Sox go a long way toward solving the "We Don't Have Papi Anymore" conundrum in the middle of the order. Abreu has knocked in at least 100 runs in all three of his years in major league baseball. While this is intriguing, it—of course—remains an unlikely deal. Stay tuned, though, the Winter Meetings begin next Sunday.
