Clay, JBJ And Young Vault Sox Back Into First, Win 5-1

Apparently, Clay Buchholz is not one to waste opportunities. Last night, he won another key start—going 6 2/3 innings and giving up just one earned run on the way to a 5-1 Red Sox win. And, simultaneously, the previously ossified offense came back to life—with Jackie Bradley, Jr. and Chris Young going 'back-to-back yard' in the fourth inning. The three tallies in that frame were all Buchholz needed as he dazzled the Padres with a mix of pitches—striking our six and walking none. One downside was the four strikeouts by Yoan "YoMo" Moncada—stretching his string to seven straight Ks. The win—coupled with Toronto's loss to The Evil Ones—moved Boston back into a first place tie in the AL East.
