Yet Another 'Worst Loss Of The Year', Red Sox Fall, 9-4

In this long lurch toward ineptitude called the 2016 Red Sox season, another crushing loss happened last night at a muggy Fenway Park. Ahead 4-1 in the 7th inning—with starter Drew Pomeranz somehow 'Houdini'-ing out of jams—the Boston bullpen flat-out imploded. Clay Buchholz actually got the team into the seventh by delivering a clean 2/3 of an inning. Then, the deluge. Matt Barnes, Fernando Abad, Junichi Tazawa and Robbie Ross, Jr. combined to cough up eight earned runs. Game. Set. Match. The Red Sox offense also contributed mightily to the loss—stranding eleven men on base (more than dozens of country contingents in the Olympics). On top of the loss, injuries to David Ortiz and Mookie Betts—both apparently non-serious. Horrible loss. No biscuit.
