'Three Homers' Sink Sox On Left Coast, Fall To M's 3-1
Our commentary on Rick Porcello's outing last night reminds us of the joke about President Linclon's wife. You know, 'Other than that, Mrs. Lincoln, how did you like the play?' For Pretty Rick, the question is, 'Other than the three home runs, Rick, how did you feel about your performance?' In fact, that performance was pretty good—Porcello went eight innings, giving up just four hits, three being those solo HRs in the eventual 3-1 loss. He walked just one and struck out eight. Previously, he had yielded just one HR in his last seven starts—so this was a bit of an anomaly. Another anomaly was the weak Boston offense, which pretty much sealed the fate of this game. The Carmine Hose did manage seven hits—two from newly-minted Andrew Benintendi.
