Could Moncada Be The 'Dave Roberts' Of 2016 For Sox?

WEEI.com's Ryan Hannable suggests that Red Sox super-prospect Yoan Moncada might be a logical September call-up to fill a needed base-stealing role off the bench. Past championship teams, he points out, have filled that role brilliantly with the likes of Dave Roberts (2004) and Quintin Berry (2013). So far this season, Moncada has stolen 44 of 56 bases (a 79% success rate). Reportedly, the team is also looking at external options to fill the role, but Moncada seems the obvious choice—and he is looking good in his third base stints at AA Portland. Said Manager John Farrell, "Whether it’s external or someone internally that would serve that role that remains to be seen, but yeah, we’ve had discussions about that particular and specific role. Again, I don’t know who that name is going to be to fill that spot." Look for the move—whatever it ends up being—to come very soon.
