Benintendi Nearly Dealt To White Sox For José Quintana?

Benintendi (L); Quintana (R)
According to an unconfirmed report from BarstoolSports, new Red Sox OF Andrew Benintendi was nearly dealt to the Chicago White Sox—along with Michael Kopech, Trey Ball, Brian Johnson and a player to be named—in exchange for 27-year old RHP José Quintana. The 5-or-1 swap would have sent Boston's 2nd, 5th, 7th and 17th best prospects to The Pale Hose. Quintana is a really good young pitcher (9-8, 2.93 ERA this season), but dealing away five prized prospects was way too high a price—and thankfully, Dave Dombrowski agreed. At least we hope that's the case—although the report is that the White Sox turned down the deal.
