"Flyin’ Hawaiian" Released By Theo And The Cubbies

Shane Victorino, a hero of the 2013 World Series Champion Red Sox, was released from his minor league contract by the Chicago Cubs. After getting hurt in Spring Training, "The Flyin’ Hawaiian" was sent to AAA Iowa by Theo Epstein—where he hit just .233 in nine games. The 35-year-old OF will try to latch on with another organization—but, frankly, that's pretty doubtful. If this is the end of the road for Victorino, he can at least take solace in two rings (Boston 2013, Philadelphia 2008) and two Gold Gloves. We wish Shane all the best!
