Ladies and gentlemen: meet your new ace. Knuckle-baller Steven Wright continued his amazing season, tossing a complete game victory tonight at Yankee Stadium—beating The Empire, 5-1. Wright had a shutout going with two outs in the ninth, hurling 101 pitches—striking out seven and walking just one. He moves to 3-3 on the season—with a staff-leading 1.52 ERA. Boston's entire scoring offense came on the long ball: Dustin Pedroia (2-run HR); David Ortiz (two solo HRs) and Xander Bogaerts (solo HR). Also, Jackie Bradley, Jr. was 2-3 and raised his average to .288. The Carmine Hose upped their record to 18-13—staying just one-half game behind the Birds of Baltimore. They return home to Fenway Park for 13 of the next 16 games. Time to make hay.
