Red Sox Bonus Draft Pool Allotment Is 19th Out Of 30

The Red Sox can spend from a bonus pool allotment of $6,997,400 in the first ten rounds of this year's draft. That's the 19th highest (or 12th lowest, if you're a "glass half-empty" person) of the 30 MLB clubs. The Carmine Hose do have the 12th biggest bonus pool for the first round of the draft at $3,192,800. In the first ten rounds, each team's pick comes with an assigned value. Any club that goes over its pool allotment—by anywhere from zero to five percent—pays a 75% penalty on the overage. This whole system is way too complicated and seems to be taken advantage of by the richer teams that don't mind paying the penalties.
