Panda Trade Talks With Padres Shifting Toward Shields

Earlier in the Spring, any trade rumors that sent Pablo Sandoval to San Diego brought James Shields back to Boston. It made sense. The two inflated salaries pretty much off-set one another—Panda at an average annual salary of $19,000,000; Shields at an average annual salary of $18,750,000. But, then, discussion shifted to a younger starter (soon-to-be 29-year old Tyson Ross), prospects and a significant "eatage" of Sandoval's salary by Boston. Now, the rumors have come full-circle, with Shields back in the mix. Reportedly, the Padres brass "have talked internally" about the deal. Stay tuned!
